Nigerians angry, hungry, suffering; insecurity rising, naira worthless: Kwam 1

Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as Kwam 1, has bemoaned the growing economic hardship and widespread insecurity that continues to characterise the Bola Tinubu‘s inchoate presidency.

Mr Ayinde, singing at an event on Thursday l, said the president needs to do more to address the hardship, hunger, insecurity and the continuous depreciation of the naira.

“Fuel crisis and naira freefall have made salaries worthless for working Nigerians.Nigerians are crying and weeping, we are suffering and there is no electricity,” Mr Ayinde said in the lyrics of  his song.

Nigerians are angry, traders are angry, why is kidnapping on the increase?” he added.

Mr Ayinde, who was the lead performer at several events of Mr Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the lead-up to the 2023 general elections, said his fans required him to pass the message considering the role he played in the campaign.

Not new to political criticisms, Mr Ayinde began making headlines since Nigeria’s return to democracy under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He accused Mr Obasanjo of mismanaging Nigeria’s resources and not fufilling his campaign promises in his famous live record “Fact” sung in the 2000s.

He has continued to feature in Nigeria’s grassroots politics, in several campaigns and subsequent criticisms of the politicians.

Mr Ayinde, however, added that his confidence in Mr Tinubu remains unshaken, tasking him to ensure that relief is made available within a short period.

“I am begging citizens, let us be patient for Akanbi (Mr Tinubu), he will restore everything,” he said.
